The internet is full of “free” teacher resources that require an account, a subscription, or 47 clicks before you get to the thing you actually wanted. This list is for resources that are free in the straightforward sense: you go to the website, and the thing is there.

Curriculum and planning

Oak National Academy (thenational.academy) — probably the most comprehensive free resource in UK primary education. Full lesson sequences for most subjects, downloadable and adaptable. Created in the spirit of the pandemic response and still well-maintained.

BBC Bitesize (bbc.co.uk/bitesize) — extensive, curriculum-aligned content for KS1 and KS2. Most useful for revision support and as a homework recommendation tool.

Twinkl free tier — Twinkl's free offering is more limited than the paid version but still includes useful classroom display materials, activity sheets, and early years resources.

Assessment and planning tools

[Staffroom's free tools](https://staffroom-ai.com/tools) — a set of AI-powered tools built specifically for primary teachers, including a report comment generator, exit ticket creator, differentiation tool, reading record comments generator, SEN support notes, and more. No account required, with daily free limits.

SEND and inclusion

nasen (nasen.org.uk) — the professional association for SEND, with free resources, guidance documents, and professional development materials.

IPSEA (ipsea.org.uk) — independent advice on SEND law and the EHCP process. Primarily aimed at parents but genuinely useful for SENCOs navigating complex cases.

Wellbeing

Education Support (educationsupport.org.uk) — a charity providing mental health and wellbeing support for education professionals. Free helpline, resources, and guidance. Worth knowing about before you need it.

Anna Freud Schools in Mind (annafreud.org/schools-and-colleges/schools-in-mind/) — evidence-based resources for supporting pupil mental health and staff wellbeing in schools.

Subject-specific

NRICH (nrich.maths.org) — free, rich mathematical tasks developed by Cambridge. Particularly strong for problem-solving and for stretching higher-attaining pupils.

The Reading Agency (readingagency.org.uk) — resources supporting reading for pleasure, including the Summer Reading Challenge and Chatterbooks.
