Staffroom
Lesson Planner

Lesson plans that are actually ready to teach from

Build structured weekly plans and full unit outlines that are aligned to the National Curriculum, differentiated for different abilities, and genuinely useful the moment you open them on Monday morning.

Planning takes time you do not have to spare.

Good lesson planning is important and teachers know it. The problem is that doing it properly takes hours every week, and those hours tend to come out of evenings and weekends that already feel stretched.

Staffroom does not replace your thinking. It does the scaffolding work, the formatting, the curriculum cross-referencing and the differentiation suggestions, so you can focus on the parts that actually need your professional expertise.

National Curriculum aligned

Staffroom links your lesson objectives to the relevant National Curriculum statements automatically, so you are always planning with purpose and your coverage is easy to evidence.

Week-by-week and unit planning

Plan a single lesson or map out an entire unit, including sequence of learning, key vocabulary, resources needed and assessment opportunities. Everything stays in one place.

Differentiation built in

Generate separate activities for different ability groups within the same lesson, with suggested scaffolds for children who need support and extension tasks for those who are ready to be stretched.

Export to Word, ready to teach

Download any lesson plan or unit outline as a Word document, formatted cleanly and ready to share with a TA, a supply teacher or your subject lead. No extra work needed on the formatting side.

Good questions

What subjects does the lesson planner cover?

Right now Staffroom covers the core KS1 and KS2 curriculum: English, maths, science, history, geography, PSHE and computing. More subjects are being added based on what teachers are asking for.

Can I edit the lesson plans once they have been generated?

Yes, you have full control over everything. The generated plan is a starting point and you can adjust objectives, activities, timings or any other part of it before saving or exporting.

Does it work for mixed-age classes?

Yes. You can generate a lesson plan for a specific year group or set learning intentions that span two year groups, which is particularly useful for mixed Year 3 and 4 classes or vertical grouping.

Is this separate from the report writing feature?

The lesson planner and the report writer are both part of the same Staffroom subscription. You get access to both for the same price, along with pupil profiles and all the export options.
